How We Got Started
The founders of ILS have a rich and diverse background providing automation systems for a wide variety of industries including: laboratory, batch, chemical process, oil refining, and manufacturing. As our business grew, we realized that a competitive advantage could be gained by offering not only software, but also custom-built hardware to control the products that our software was designed for — with an emphasis on easy, affordable integration.
Being able to directly service the hardware that our software was running on, as opposed to relying on a third party, is another benefit to this approach. Thus, our focus expanded from being purely “software experts” to designing laboratory and hardware control systems that meshed seamlessly with the SCADA software and databases in which we were already proficient.
In 2025, ILS Automation was acquired by DCI, Inc., a leading manufacturer of stainless steel vessels, process systems, and agitators, marking an exciting new chapter in our growth. This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver fully integrated solutions that combine DCI’s engineering and fabrication expertise with ILS’s proven control technologies. Together, we provide end-to-end process system solutions that enhance precision, scalability, and reliability for customers.
